Summer Trip 2009

I meant to write about the camping trip and all that but, i think the bajillion pictures kind of sums it up pretty well lol.

We went to Gifford Pinchot, PA for camping. We had 10 people go, two tents, and two Honda Pilots haha. It was sunny the entire time so unlike last year, we were able to start a very nice campfire with ease. I went rowboating and kayaking. The others did biking as well. The duo-bikes were awesome lol (forgot the term for those bikes). It was really fun, especially kayaking. Went to Mcdonalds the second day and we were surprised to see that every table had a vase of daisies (my fav!). It was a refreshing view from the dingy nyc mcdonalds lol.

We shopped at the supermarket to get food for the campfire. We had hotdogs, burgers ,chicken, meatballs, s'mores etc.

I think one of the coolest places was the awesome 99cent store! it actually had brand name stuff for ONE dollar! That's asian heaven! I got some pretty neat things from there :)

Oh yea, one thing about camping is that even though there's no technological noise, the insects were CRAZY loud. It was like instead of cars loudly passing, you hear the loud blend of cricket chirps; instead of motorcycle roaring, you hear cicadas rattling. It took a while to get used to it and fall asleep.

I didn't get any mosquito bites til the very last moment before we left. We were all packing up to leave and I didn't have on any bug spray after the morning shower since we were leaving the camping ground. I was bending over to pack my clothes in my duffel when a mosquito bit my back =[. Thank goodness I only had one small bite, the others I was camping with were covered in bites. I think it's because I drenched myself in repellant lol. It's bad but I'd take extreme measures to protect myself from the insane itchiness that would follow the bites.

Anyways, we then drove to Philly and checked into the nice hotel. We had two rooms that were connected by a door so we weren't really separated. We spent some time watching cable since none of us had cable except for Annie LOL. We shopped at the outlet malls that night and I got myself a jacket! woohoo! And a super cute wallet from fossil. I bought one for my mom too; she absolutely loved it!

Then we went to see the Eastern State Penitentiary. That was my favorite event for the whole trip I think. It was built in the 1800's and was America's first penitentiary. It was eerie but fascinating at the same time. It's been out of use for an extremely long time but seeing the place where these prisoners used to be isolated was a bit spooky.

The next day we went to get the world famous philly cheesestakes. Gino's and Pat's cheesesteaks. We split the group so half got a footlong from Gino's and the other from Pat's. Then we'd split half with each other so that we can taste both. We all agreed Gino's was the winner--although I don't really think i'd consider it the BEST anyways. It was cool because so many celebrities had their pictures taken and posted all over Gino's.

Then we went to Atlantic City where I lost 5 bucks haha. It was an accident though because I accidently left a bet of 4 bucks on one of the machines and I lost =[ So then I was being really obnoxious and noisy when I was playing with my last dollar. Sadly, I lost that dollar too. Shopped around a little too.

Finally headed home, but not before making one last stop at a diner--Denny's. Yum.

Packing

went to meet up with Viv @ 34st. Met up with her at Macy's and helped her pick out a chain for her necklance. Then we went to Forever21 to pick up our paychecks and say some final goodbyes =[ Then we took the train to St.Marks and had dinner at Menkui-Tea. Then walked around for a while looking for a bar that has a decent happy hour. Went to something called the Naked Pig or something? Don't remember. Had a beer and a long talk. Finally went home & cooked dinner.

I decided to start packing at midnight (I know, very last minute). I went downstairs to look for my dad's fleece sleeping bag and I asked my mom if she knew where it was. She then flipped out on me because I was doing it last minute and she yelled at me about pretty much everything. I yelled back of course, feeling like I got crushed just because I wanted to know where a blanket was. It turned out to be a big fight and now I feel like crap. It's almost 4am and I gotta wake up 3.5 hours and make a long trek to Sheepshead bay with my duffel, backpack, & purse. Forget the chair, I think I'll break my bag lugging all that stuff together. I guess i'll sit on the dirt *tears*

Last Day

Last Day of Forever 21!

Got assigned to maintain zone 7 so I was cleaning up Love21. It was super messy and people were dropping clothes and dumping things everywhere. It got pretty stressful because I felt like it was mundane and much wasted effort. This is why I hate maintaining. I seriously contemplated ditching after my lunch break and never coming back because it was such a mess and i did NOT want to close today.

But then I got put on cashier and decided to stay since I liked doing cashier. Did cashier for a while & went on my break. Took a 48 minute break (record!) because I went to Wendy's and stood in line for a long time JUST for a chili. Also, before I went on break, I bumped into Frances at Forever21 and had a nice chat with her.

After I got back, I was put off cashier so I was like forget this, I don't want to maintain anymore. Not only that, but I had a throbbing headache so I knew I was going to be really frustrated at everything. I decided to seriously ditch so I told the managers I wasn't feeling well so I got to go home. Said goodbye to a few co-workers and left Forever21 forever :'(

I couldn't believe it was over. I know it's kind of dumb because I've been complaining about this job for a long time, but I'll honestly miss it. My co-workers were cool and I feel like maybe I'll never see these people again. Sigh!

Went home with Sunny & went to get some lai cha at the usual 24/7 internet cafe. Sat there for a long time chatting & went homee.

Ugly Truth

Wasted my entire day on Scrubs and went to Dara's house around 5pm to watch a movie. Me, Annie, & viv were there. We went to Spumoni Gardens to get some delicious pizza & spumoni. It was my first time and it was delicious!

We beasted the pizza at Dara's and then went to watch the Ugly Truth (ghetto streaming version online). It was a entertaining movie but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Then we had a really long talk about stuff and Anthony came over and we talked some more.

Went home around 1am.

Went to Pathmark with Sunny because I wanted some Sunny Doodles (haha). Ended up getting a LOT of chex mix (it was $1.50/bag! Also, I got four flavors :D) I was still hungry so we went to 711 and I got some instant noodles and Sunny got some hotdogs and stuff.

Mmm..nothing like indulging in your guilty pleasures in the middle of the night.

T-2 days

work today! counting down t-2 days left, including today!

Got assigned to run from the first floor fitting room--which was a drag. I didn't know where anything was and I was just seriously wasting time lol. Then David told me to man the 3rd floor dressing room. Now, I've heard so many horror stories about doing the dressing room so I was like, damn! But nobody was really up there so it was pretty chill & time passed by fast. There wasn't much of a line so nobody complained.

Customers are only allowed a maximum of 6 items of clothing in the dressing room at once so I keep any extras on hold. The problem is that other people go through the rack of clothes and take the things on hold when I'm not looking. So when the customer comes out of the dressing room, asking for their clothes, & I don't have it--it kind of sucks. Cause they'd have to find those clothes in their size all over again and wait on line for the dressing room. Oh well.

They gave me a walkie talkie so I asked my assistant manager David to send some people up to my dressing room a few times. I knew most people went to the 2nd floor dressing room because its the biggest but theres always a super long line, whereas my dressing room on the 3rd floor was half empty most of the time.

I took my break afterwards and it was 41 minutes long teehee. I didn't really care since my last day was thursday. Then they closed the 3rd floor fitting room and asked me to man the 1st floor one. There wasn't much people at that time anymore so again, it was pretty relaxed. I'm lucky that it was not a busy day. which is surprising since it was sunny and all.

Then finsihed up maintaining and went homeeee early. (1:15 AM)

What a record!

Afterwards, Sunny picked me up on my walk back home & we tried to find food but to no avail :'( So we went to Dunkin Donuts and I got myself a sausage & egg croissant. Sunny had a super unhealthy vanilla bean coolata. We bumped into his friends, joefre & ivy, there and they were really nice so we had a fun time.

Mom & Daughter Time

Woke up super early to shop with my mom. She's been complaining for some time that we barely see each other since I work all the time and so does she. So woke at 9am and went to Forever21 in the morning. Treated my mom to shopping there. She bought a few things and so did I. Then went to Manhattan mall and I bought some things there too.

Went to eat at Subways and she ate the entire foot long and I only took a bite because I wasn't hungry. Then went to JC Pennys. Went home around 4pm because she went to work. I was super tired and fell asleep on the train. My eyes jerked open when the train doors opened at 8th ave. I grabbed my stuff and ran out. It was super hot that day so I went up to my roof to tan. Didn't work out so well since it was late anyways, oh well!

Bodies!

Me & Sunny planned to go to the Bodies Museum today. I been waiting super long to go so I was really excited! Took the train to Seaport and kinda got lost but we eventually found our way. I couldn't help stopping into the mall so we shopped for a little bit first.

Then we went to the museum. It was kind of surreal to think that all the things in display were real flesh. It wasn't as disturbing as I thought it might've been. It was really cool to see the insides of the body. I was really fascinated at one display in which they had the entire body's nervous system displayed. So weird.

There was also another display about obesity in which they spliced a woman into three or four parts from her head to her toe.

The fetal display was interesting. I think I liked it the most. The growth process looked really interesting. The embryos are like little beans :)

Anyways, afterwards, we got some hotdogs and italian icies near the waters. I like how it was full of life at night, with the water surrounding the dock area. We ate a real meal at some restaurant nearby. We sat outside and had pasta. Yum.

Then we went homee.

Good Day

Cashier again. Worked next to Albert on cashier. He tried making me do BAD things of course. BUT I RESISTED =D

After cashier, we helped clean up the ginormous mess in the store. I help fold the jeans and then we all went upstairs to help. I was folding T-shirts with Jonathan, which is always a blast. Lol for some reason I thought he looked like a Bernstein bear and everyone agreed LOL. After that he made a funny/messed-up joke about how a headband is like a Faith21 bracelet haha. Peng was messing around with this spanish CD he found and tried to play it off as his own band lol.

Anyways the pink room was a huge mess. Stupid huge wall mirror tempts people to skip the fitting room line and change right there. As a result, giant piles of clothes were EVERYWHERE. I think the managers really wanted to go so we just put everything on hangers and threw them on racks.

Good day overall. Finally glad works over for the week!

Work againnn. Woohoo I got cashier! I don't remember anything else about this day lol.

Perfection!

Sunny brought over a fruit salad he made this morning! It was really delicious looking. Of course he added mangoes since it was like my current obsession haha.

(note: it's currently tuesday 8/11 and im trying to backtrack once again lol)

Maintained Twelve by Twelve all day because there was a visit from the Twelve by Twelve and Twist designers. Also, people were coming over to redress our mannequins. Our managers were super anal about making a good representation. I kept the place in pretty perfect shape all day.

Since I was working near the entrance of the store, one of my managers made me greet customers at the door for a while. They had someone greet customers all week long because of our new Twist line. So I was covering someone's break. It was weird at first but the security guard was mad funny and kept making fun of me. I got used to greeting people and getting ignored a little while later lol. Then I went back to maintaining my turffff at 12 by 12.

Afterwards, helped maintain the rest of the 1st floor because it was a hugeeeeee mess.

Took the train home & had a nice long convo with Sharry

So Funny

Alright I'm gonna do a late night post because if I don't do it now, it's probably going to be a few days before I decide to retrace my steps. By then, all the little details I know now will most likely be lost in history forever!

So met up with Zendrix today at 34st to watch Harry Potter. Got big bucket of popcorn and soda to share. Yum...beasted that :) I didn't read the book so I was reluctant to watch it but, what the hell, if I don't watch it now, when will I ever? The movie wasn't bad but it could've used some more action scenes.

Afterwards, I dragged Zendrix to go shopping. Today was one of those shopping days where you get lucky and find great deals on the stuff you want. Got myself some rainboots (for Rochester), some shoes (because I don't have anymore), sweat pants (you can't have too many), and pajama bottoms. But then I had to go, which ended my great shopping run. Oh yea, and David Cook was doing a signing at Manhattan mall, where I was. I had no clue who David Cook was but it occured to me later on when I was thinking about it. Nevertheless, his identity didn't stop me from snapping a bajillion pictures in case he did turn out to be a big deal. Yes, I figured it was the American Idol winner after thinking about why he sounded so familiar.

Joe finally arrived and Zendrix went home. Joe & I went to Dangerfields Comedy Club, which was at 61st & 1st ave. We were currently at 34st and 6th ave. It was a long ass walk. I switched into the rainboots I bought because I was wearing my heeled boots so it hurt to make that long walk. We finally got there a little late but the show had just started. There were some hilarious comedians and the last one was kind of a buzz kill. The drinks were crazy expensive and you were required to buy two drinks minimum. It's alright though, I had a great time. It was my first time going to a comedy club. Another great first this week. Woohoo!

P.S. I have a new obsession for mangoes. I need some QUICK. Mango ANYTHING will do.

PPS. I finally fixed the time stamp on my blog so now everything makes sense chronologically. I change the dates though because at 3:45 AM, it's technically thursday but I want to leave it as the day before because the new day past 12 hasn't begun for me yet.

Lobster Virginity Taken

No cashier today =[ & still waiting for my pending warning for charging someone twice for an item. Poop.

Assigned to run from the 2nd floor dressing room all day. Usually, I'd be all cranky and complain-y about it because running clothes is absolutely the worst thing to me. But it didn't bother me today! I ran many racks of clothes, like a ninja :D

A customer asked me today:

Customer: Why is the store so packed, is there a big sale or something?
Me: Nope, it's like this...every...day....

So sad.

Anyways, today's a very important day. Considering that as we grow older, we generally experience less "firsts" ; we've done increasingly more things as we age. However, today, I had my FIRST lobster!



After work, Sunny surprised me with lai cha & lobster fruit salad. Which he spent all day working on (thanks!) There were two types of mangoes diced up in there. With a really yummy syrup made from lemon juice, honey, and mango juice. Oh, and lobster! My first time eating lobster. It's such a weird new taste to me, but no complaints! It was good :)

Hello Sunshine

It's 11:19AM and I'm psyched because I'm FINALLY going to the beach when the sun is at it's peak. The last time I tried to go....I ended up getting there at like 5pm. SO! it's 11AM, i'm sleep-deprived, and super psyched to finally get my summer glow! Being indoors all summer working left me all pasty =[

Cross your fingers because I'm hoping the clouds don't come!

got to the beach around 1pm when the sun was alone in the sky at it's highest point. I pretty much roasted with Kelvin lol. I forgot my suntan lotion. I had put it in my bag earlier but then there was some sand in the bottom of my bag from the last time I went to the beach so I took everything back out. I must've forgotten to put it back in. I borrowed some suntan lotion from some girls nearby. I couldn't use that much because it was a small bottle so some I couldn't reapply =X I got red in the places that I didn't cover with suntan lotion lol.

Around two hours in, it got pretty unbearable so we decided to go get some food. Kelvin was really out of it because of the heat or maybe dehydration but after we ate at Papa Leone's pizza place, we were energized again lol. We both had 2 slices of pizza & a drink. And a mango italian icey (yum!!)

Frank and Tsui arrived soon after. They brought some people too. We all tried to tan a little but the sun was already at an indirect angle so it didn't feel hot anymore. I was tossing a football around with the guys for a while and then we all went home to clean off.

At night went to get some aloe with sunny because of those areas that turned red from no suntan lotion coverage. Oh man please no skin cancer!!

Hopeless Romantic

Was super tired from last night and was hoping to sleep in til super late. But alas, my dad had some cable guy come over and the cable dude needed to go to the roof to hook up some asian satellite. The entrance to the roof is via a closet in my room so my dad made me wake up so the guy could pass through my room. I tried to sleep in my parents bedroom but they have such a hard bed and I couldn't fall back asleep. Decided to just get up and take a shower.

Viv came over and we watched Miss March. I was proud of my handyman-ness because I managed to hook up my DVD player to my TV lol. Woohoo! Then we had a nice long chat about everything and anything. She is obsessed with the lil wayne puppet lol.

Then I came back home and sat on the computer like a loser til now :)

Supreme Ramen ftw!

Closing todayy! Was late for work by a minute because all the N and D trains ran local. Stupid weekend changes! I was assigned to do cashier in the men's side with Alan and Albert so it was fun. I was so exhausted and tired today due to my lack of sleep. I just wanted to go home and pass out.

After we closed the registers, we were all maintaining the men's section. There were 5 people maintaining and we ended up being the last section to finish. I was really annoyed because it definitely does NOT take that long to finsih one small part of our store, especially with FIVE people. Two of the workers were like doing absolutely nothing for hours. I hate to pick up after their slack cause we end up leaving later. I was too tired and cranky by that point.

Went home on the train with Sharry and Chan. Had a nice long chat with Sharry about life and stuff. Then Sunny was very indiscreet about his surprise--Supreme Ramen (which had like a bajillion types of meat!!) & Lai Cha! So yummy, made up for my bad day. Thank you :)
